Mustered in as Private and appointed Corporal on February 25, 1862. Mortally wounded at Sharpsburg, Maryland, September 17, 1862, and died prior to September 30, 1862. Place of death not reported. Wounded in the shoulder at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, July 2, 1863. Captured at Rappahannock Station, Virginia, November 7, 1863, and confined at Point Lookout, Maryland, until paroled and transferred to Venus Point, Savannah River, Georgia, where he was received on November 15, 1864, for exchange. Mustered in as Private and promoted to Corporal on April 26, 1862. Present or accounted for until wounded in the hip and captured at Sharps-burg, Maryland, September 17, 1862. Confined at Fort McHenry, Maryland. Paroled and exchanged at Aiken's Landing, James River, Virginia, in November, 1862. Reported absent wounded until discharged at camp near Orange Court House, Virginia, February 8, 1864, by reason of wounds received at Sharpsburg. [NCT 5:295]

Wounded in the right thigh (possibly also in the left arm) and captured at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, July 3, 1863. Hospitalized at Gettysburg. Transferred to hospital at Chester, Pennsylvania, on or about July 14, 1863. Paroled at Chester and transferred to City Point, Virginia, where he was received on August 20, 1863, for exchange. Hospitalized at Farmville, Virginia, August 28, 1863. Furloughed for thirty days on September 12, 1863. Reported absent wounded or absent sick through December, 1864. Deserted to the enemy on an unspecified date. Took the Oath of Allegiance at City Point on February 9, 1865. [NCT 12:425]

Discharged on April 30, 1863, by reason of "gen[era]l debility & phthisis pulmonalis." Hospitalized at Richmond, Virginia, May 2, 1863, with typhoid pneumonia. Died in hospital at Richmond on June 1, 1863, of "pneumonia." [NCT 13:267]
