Wensday Oct 16th 1889
Dear children,
I seat my self this
evning to write you a few lines to let
you know we are tolerable well. only I am
wearied and have a head ache I hope this
will find you all well, Celenia. I had a
heap of company durian the assosiation.
four deligates besids other company. Cal
Watters, Billy Fatten, preacher Harris
and a Mr Bean was the deligates. Sydney
and Jo Poteet and two of there sons from
Mcdowell. Heny Brinkley and family and
others. we had nice weather a nice time
good preaching and some old friends but
none of my children. I would have bin
glad if some of them had come.
I tell you Celenia me and
Idah had a tuff time. we caried a bushell
of rashions evry day for _____. Mr Poe
was hear. there was 16 preachers and a
large congregation a sunday. we road to
church and back in a two horse, three
seated back. The rest of the time we
walked and you knew I am woried down when
I rest up a while. I am coming to see you
and brother Thomas and I want you to come
to see us. I heard from Thomas monday.
they was well. Amy Jane wrote to me about
three week back. she was going to
Mcdowell in about six weeks. she was at
the saw mill at rutherford town. Celenia
why dont you write? I haint had no letter
sins tax givin in June. I thought to hav
bin up there before now as soon as I can
get a horse I am coming and I want you
all to come. [p.1] the fashion down hear
is babys. I never saw as many at one time
as I saw last Sunday and moor coming. how
is it with your self. has your babys head
got well? what is frank driving at these
times? tell me all about the folks up
there. Hose will stay where he is. Cal
Horne is going on Liza Rubins Hamrick
land. I dont know where the rest is
going. Johnathan will stay at the same
place. Old Mr Bridges died last month. I
expect Julia and Emmer has another heir
by this time. Your aunt Mary Ann has bin
sick in bed going on two weeks but is
letter now. there was a Mrs Walker died
last Saturday not fare fom hear leaving
four little children. All of Mary Ann
children has and will have a baby but
Jims wife and Mary and Lily is not maried
she wont. I tell you I never hear of so
many babys. Ida has a nice beau not a
Bracher but he is a britton a little fare
off kin. I hav written all I can think of
now Celenia. write Soon. come as soon as
you can. I do want to see you. know you
can come if you will. I think I will come
before long. tell all the children howdy
and that I want to see them. good by.
